Worth the 90 dollars spent, and would buy again., August 30, 2016

    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
My head size was 24 inches above the eyebrows and above the ears, at the widest section of my head (as measured by someone else). This correlates to an XL size helmet, but at the smaller end of the size range. This helmet is very slightly loose until I tighten the strap all the way, then the helmet moves along with my skin, indicating a perfect fit.

In other words, have someone else measure your head, and order the correct size and you should be fine.

Now for the Pros and Cons!

    Pros:
    1. Visor is very clear
    2. Helmet feels very solid
    3. Knob to flip the sun-shade visor is sturdy
    4. Vents are easy to move and open
    5. Clear visor has a nice lift-tab on the bottom left
    6. Front face of the helmet picks all the way up, which makes everything easier to hear (ie: MSF course instructor)
    7. Material isn’t that bad to wear
    8. Vents do a good job keeping the visor from fogging. Not perfect, but good.

    Neutrals
    1. Heavy like every helmet

    Cons
    1. Hard to find switches initially by feel
    2. Switch to lift up chin section is hard to use and located in a hidden spot under the chin
    3. Straps would be better if they were velcro or ratchet style

If your vents don’t work, check for too much silicone., November 2, 2017

    Pros:
1- Good price for a dual visor modular helmet.
2- No sharp edges or cheaply made looking parts.
3- Sunvisor is dark and large enough and is easy to operate.
4- Faceshield is removable without tools, in case you want to apply anti fog or wash or replace it.
5- Faceshield replacements are cheap too (but you are limited to Yema 2 face shields available)
6- removable and washable inner padding.

    Cons:
1- From the outside its noticeably bigger in size than a similar size helmet. I guess that’s what they had to sacrifice to put the sun visor and removable padding while keeping the DOT rating.
2- Face shield is a fog magnet. I put (Rain-X anti fog) on both this helmet and another cheap helmet and the 50$ one held better against fog.
3- Face shield material is not scratch resistant.
4- Wind noise is too loud. Again, its expected from a cheap helmet.
5- Top vents plugged up by silicone during manufacturing.
6- Even with all vents closed, wind leaks onto my forehead from somewhere behind the visor.
7- Rain water leaks to the inside of the visor washing away my anti-fog spray.

Conclusion: If you want a practical helmet that does the job without breaking the bank, this one is perfect.
But if you ride long distances and/or prefer comfort over money savings, then you will regret being cheap every single time you put your head inside this thing.
I removed the liner inside and found the foam holes were filled up with silicone. no wonder why the vents didn’t seem to work. Tried to pick the silicone up without damaging the Styrofoam but can’t reach the vent that way because they are off-centered.

Unless you want to use it for racing, the DOT rating will get you a comparable (good enough) safety rating to the

expensive helmets, so its basically a matter of comfort.
For me I’ll use the following keywords for my next purchase:(pinlock ready, light weight, removable liner, quiet, thin wall). and I’ll look up visor replacement availability and price before I buy the helmet.

Great price. Good helmet., April 22, 2018

    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
Time will tell how well built this helmet is, but I am initially impressed. Compared to my $600 name brand Snell rated helmet, I can see the difference in quality. However, it’s not completely lack luster.
It’s a bit short in the back but my sides and front are completely covered. May take some getting used to.
It’s loud. I can hear everything. That may not be a bad thing though.
It’s a bit light weight, which makes me worry about effective protection… But it’s designed to protect against one hard fall, which I think it would.

    Pros:
Visor and sun shade work well. Looks like a fighter pilot helmet.
Comfortable after figuring out a system for putting on and taking off.
    Everything works as it should.

I’ll update my review after this season. If I get two years out of the helmet I will be very happy. Can’t beat the price. Quality is acceptable. This comes from someone who had always spent extra for Snell rating.
